Vice President, Operations (Gentai Financial Group – Metro Vancouver Regional District, BC)

Gentai is seeking an experienced VP Operations to join our Lending division. Gentai has a knack for uncovering a story that can be just as creditworthy. We use a common-sense lending approach when considering commercial or single-family mortgages.

 

As VP Operations, your focus will be to develop/build your sales pipeline through a national broker channel, underwriting the loans, and ensuring all conditions have been met for funding. As well, you are tasked with managing the portfolio of loans at Gentai. You will utilize your alternative mortgage industry knowledge, regulatory compliance experience, and sound decision-making skills to adjudicate “alternative” and “non-conforming” mortgage applications based on Gentai’s lending guidelines and authorized lending limits, utilizing strong solution-focused communication skills to deliver your message. Key Responsibilities:

  1. Develop a strategic plan identifying and building relationships within the broker channel to attract alternative mortgage deal flow
  2. Complete underwriting of deals and adjudication which can include extensive market research, and ensure the underwriting meets with company lending metrics
  3. Provide liaison to support the funding process
  4. Evaluate and refine existing lending policies and procedures and implement risk management best practices
  5. Daily review of arrears and identifying of any trending activities
  6. Review all new information received from borrower and update internal systems as required
  7. Work directly with the borrower to mitigating further arrears and determining best workout solutions
  8. Work towards solutions that best reduce overall loss or potential losses
  9. Prepare and submit proof of claims for bankruptcy, work with trustees where applicable
  10. Determine when a loan is not collectable and recommend legal action
  11. Send appropriate notification regarding returned payments and/or arrears notification to borrowers

Experience:

  1. Underwriting with a mortgage investment corporation or equivalent, and knowledge of mortgage legal documentation
  2. 5 or more years of experience in the mortgage industry
  3. Experience in a client relationship management role
  4. Ability to understand financial statements
  5. Mortgage Broker License or ability/willingness to obtain one immediately
